The Society has been in
existence since 1893 and its objectives are to foster the practice,
enjoyment and advancement of all forms of stereoscopy - pictures in
three dimensions. |
|
Between October and April there are
monthly meetings held on Saturday afternoons in London and
Coventry. Meetings usually start at 2:30pm and consist of two distinct
parts, each addressing a different aspect of stereoscopic practice (see
programme for further details).
The London meetings are held at St
Pancras Church Hall, Lancing Street NW1
1NA
(Note: This is a new venue for our London Meetings. See
maps for details of the existing and new locations.).
The
Coventry meetings, for the Midlands area, are held in St Barbara's
Church Hall, Rochester Road, Coventry, CV5 6AG. |
|
New members are welcome with or without
experience in stereo photography. They will find help and advice given
gladly by more experienced members and assistance is always available in
obtaining stereo cameras and viewers. In addition a variety of supplies
including materials for mounting
transparencies are on sale
to members at reasonable prices.
For an idea of what is stocked, please

The Society Journal
with many stereoscopic images in full colour is published four times
a year with articles
featuring and information relating to the theory and practice of
stereoscopy. There are also regular articles covering the Society’s
activities and world-wide stereo news and views, as well as details of new
3-D equipment and second hand items offered by members.
Back issues of the Journal are also available for sale. |
There are a number of Postal Groups
in the UK each consisting of around 20 members who circulate
transparencies and prints. Each person regularly contributes a slide
or prints which is returned on completion of a circuit with written
comments from other members of the Group. For those who prefer it and
new members, there is a "View Only" Group which facilitates the study
of other peoples work. Other groups include Computer Stereo and View
Magic prints. |
The
Annual Convention over a long weekend is held at different
attractive centres in the UK. Visits are arranged to places of
interest, evening programmes of slide shows, Saturday morning
Workshops and discussions by members from the UK and overseas
The Librarian has books on
stereo for UK resident members to borrow.
Our
Exhibition attracts
entries from members all over the world, and the slides, prints
and digital files
entered are shown at our meetings in London and Coventry and at
the convention. Our entries in the ISU Clubs' Folios are
taken from the award winning entries in the Exhibition. If you are a
member of the Society and would like to enter your images for
the Exhibition you can download the entry form
here (although
the closing date has actually passed. Contact David Ford to see
if you can still enter). |
